Local press and corruption crisis in eje Cafetero

This article shows the results of the study on media representations made by La Tarde and La Patria newspapers from Pereira and Manizales cities respectively, in cases of corruption and crisis faced by the public enterprises Aguas y Aguas in Pereira and Caldas Liquor Industry. This study was done in the framework of Research: Rhetoric on crisis corruption in the Coffee Organizations, conducted by the University of Manizales, and is the intermediate stage of it. The main objective was to track the ways in which these two local newspapers constructed a representation of the facts of corruption and its consequent crisis. 308 news in local newspapers in the cities of Pereira and Manizales, in the area of the Coffee Region in Colombia were analyzed, using the descriptive analysis of content, which included newspapers between 2010 and 2014. The result of analyzed study shows how this process has media representation, affecting the ways in which representations of the crisis and the companies themselves are made, pointing out a factor to consider when developing rhetorical strategies as a way of managing image and organizational reputation.
