Abstract

The paper suggests a comprehensive concept of function in Industrial Design as a conceptual criterion and main objective that permits the placing of design products, from their first conceptualization, as functional artifacts within a particular aesthetic category. Such artifacts are defined for the purpose of this paper as the first expression of a design project. This initial expression must be understood as a distinct creation in Industrial Design, which must be assessed in a different way from other disciplines that manifest themselves in a tridimensional way through a multidisciplinary approach
