Abstract

This article explores the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Colombia and the United States (US) from its original proposal from the Colombia President on April 30th, 2003 to its final passage on October 12th, 2011 by the United States Congress. It emphasizes the first steps taken to get to an agreement between the two countries, and categorizing them into two different levels. After the last negotiation round, the agreement was stalled and we show some debatable reasons for the postponement of the approval by the US government. It also, focuses on the Agricultural market, which was and still is considered the most delicate part of the negotiation, and the Colombian point of view of their agriculture in this free trade agreement.
