Sustainability design and local development

Based on the contextual situation as a stage for sustainable thinking the act of designing industrial products, taking into account the approaches of sustainable development and design with social and environmental responsibility, the following text reflects on these issues and the new roles of the designer. Currently, concern is focusing on the design of eco-friendly industrial products, along with the development of certification and environmental management systems. Ecodesign is a methodology to design industrial products which takes into account the environment as an additional variable to other traditional, such as quality, cost, safety and ergonomics. This raises concepts like life cycle analysis and develops specific tools, such as the method ecoindicator.
