Abstract

The discussion about openness and growth is as old as the Economics as science. Nevertheless, the empirical evidence does not offer an accurate conclusion on the subject. The objective of this paper is to offer a theoretical and empirical survey of the main works about this question and its main conclusions, specially the importance of geographical and institutional variables.
