Signal Detection in a MIMO System Using the Ant Colony Algorithm

Telecommunications systems users demand more services from operators every day; it is expected that the Multiple Input and Multiple Output (MIMO) Systems will satisfy those needs. It is necessary to provide mechanisms for implementing these systems and to facilitate their maximum use in order to get those objectives.
Detection is a critical step considering that the complexity of the system can increase dramatically while a detection algorithm performance is improved, which is a Non-deterministic Polynomial time (NP) problem. Different studies have been implemented in order to reduce the number of mathematical operations associated with the algorithm and improve its performance.
In recent years, metaheuristics have been used to solve NP problems; this paper presents the analysis of a signal detector for a MIMO system using the Ant Colony Algorithm.
