This article is a part of the theoretical review on the research formation cycle in the School of Graphic Design at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana. This formation cycle is described from three fundamental perspectives: 1. The design research discipline, 2. The integration of that paticular concept of research to various areas of the curriculum and finally 3. Future prospects and challenges that should be considered for the consolidation of the cycle. The study of how different authors conceive the research design is discussed in this work from an analytical methodology from which seeks to make research a transverse axis of the curriculum reform that is underway in today.
