Analysis of the effect of noise on receipt of WDM networks with coherent detection

Coherent detection as a reception technique consists on combining the incident optical signal to a signal produced by a local oscillator to a certain frequency. This article analyzes the effect of linear noise and the distortions due to nonlinearities, in order to propose solutions to mitigate this effect.
